About a month ago a client, who recently earned a B.A. in marketing/management, contacted me with the following question:
"I have a question about how to dress for an interview. For every interview that I have been to thus far, I have worn my black business suit. The more I sit here and think about how my past interviews have went, I started thinking that maybe I am too overdressed. I know it's better to be over dressed than underdressed for an interview, but I feel that in today's work world at least for the jobs that I have interviewed for, no one wears a business suit anymore. Do you think I should change what I wear to interviews or is the business suit still a good choice?"
Here was my response:
"Yes, continue to wear your business suit. Interviewers expect a candidate to be dressed up (even if they're not dressed up during the interview). You definitely will not be docked points for dressing professionally!"
