Telephone Interview Tips

  • Prepare for a telephone interview as you would a one-on-one interview (be sure to research the company)
  • Be in a quiet room where there will be no interruptions (barking dog, small children, etc.)
  • It's best to use a land line versus a cell phone to ensure there will be no "cutting out"
  • Review your resume before your interview and have a copy in front of you
  • Write down some key accomplishments from past positions which could benefit them in the position for which you are applying
  • Be sure to ask them a few questions (What is your next step in this selection process?)
  • Do not bring up salary/benefits unless they do first
  • Have a pen/paper ready to take any notes
