Conducting a Confidential Job Search: Part 1

A couple of years ago I read an article about a job searcher who posted his resume to a major job board, only to have his boss find out about it a couple days later. Although the individual was not terminated, hew was viewed as a "lame duck" by his company.

If you're concerned about jeopardizing your current position during a job search, utilize discretion when applying for positions. If posting to job boards, most offer a confidential section where you can block certain companies from viewing your resume. Be careful though ... if your current company uses recruiters, these recruiters may see your resume on these job boards.
